What is VAT Exemption?
VAT exemption allows chronically ill or disabled people to receive some items at 0% VAT.
Which products can be purchased with VAT Exempt?
Only equipment and appliances that have been designed solely for use by disabled people are eligible for VAT exemption. Equipment or appliances designed for general use or designed for use by disabled and able-bodied people alike don’t qualify for VAT relief.
Who is eligible for VAT relief?
In order for you to receive VAT relief you must to fit the following criteria:
Charities can simply provide their registered charity number.
If a person is chronically ill or disabled:
Physical or mental impairments which have long-term and adverse effects upon his/her ability to carry out everyday activities. With a condition which the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness (diabetes).
If he/she are terminally ill.
IMPORTANT: It does NOT include elderly people who are able bodied or anyone who is only temporarily disabled or incapacitated, (broken leg).
What do I have to do to qualify?
If the item you wish to purchase is an eligible item to receive VAT exemption during the check out process you will be prompted to full in a declaration, stating the nature of your disability at the time of your order, as well as the buyers name and address, which you must do to receive VAT exemption on your purchase.
